When the fan comes on, is it louder than normal also?  The most likely
problem is the resisor pack, located between the radiator and the
driver's side headlight.  Although you may want to check/reew the
sensor/plug in the radiator(bottom corner), and the temp sensor as well,
which is on the block(near steering pump,  hidden a little bit by
coolant hose).
