Clutch sinking sticking and growling

85 5k--Thanks for the help on the PS pump rebuild.
Seems to be holding thus far. I was fanatical about cleaning out
the gasket seats. I hope that investment of time pays off.
However, my repair list seems to be daisy linked as of late.
On the way back from the PS test drive, my clutch sunk and stayed
on floor. I had to use the toe pull up technique. It would also
gradually lose disengagement, so I had to pull up and re-push the
pedal if I had the clutch engaged for more than 1-2 seconds.
When I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor,
The pedal return force would fairly rapidly diminish,
and I heard a growling/clicking (like a spring settling)
sound coming from the front of the car. I could not pinpoint
the source.
I had changed the master cylinder in '94, so I guessed that
the problem was the slave cylinder.
Replaced that and still have the problem.
My next guess is the master cylinder.
Any other possibilities?
The original clutch has 140,000 mi.
Thanks again
