I'm alittle afraid of red Loctite. That stuff is
REALLY strong. I think it has it's place, but I'm not
sure about the studs. You are right about its higher
temp. properties, though.

Agreed here as well. The nuts are stock Audi, I
believe. Steel, with a mechanical interference. They
have 3 small triangle shapes stamped in the crown that
provide the grab. The nuts never came loose on any of
them, it was always the studs backing out of the head.
The holes in the head were chased with the proper
tap, and the studs installed dry to the proper torque.
