A4 TDI

Just drove a brand-new (2500 km) A4 1.9TDI 90hp FWD. Nice car, the diesel
experience is pretty muted and despite only 90hp it's plenty quick.
Well-equipped, too. Very well-behaved in corners, you have to boot it
pretty hard to make it run wide. Shifts much nicer than any quattro I've
ever driven (what is it, that Audi can never make AWD transmissions as good
as their FWD counterparts?)
My only criticism is on the fairly brutal brakes- almost Citroen-like.
Touch 'em and smell the windscreen.

A car I could well live with, day to day. If I'd buy a new car for any
amount of serious driving, it'd have to be a TDI.
