How do you know when to change timing belt?

If you don't know you HAVE to change it. It may have never been changed and
your just going on borrowed time.

I've bought two Audi's w/o any service records and I drove it straight from
where I purchased it to my mechanic to have the t-belt replaced!! One that
I bought had 200k miles on it and my mech. said that the belt was so cracked
and brittle it was a miracle I made it the 200 miles to him. He also said
that he wouldn't have been surprised if it was the original
t-belt...YIKES!!!

If you have the funds to do it now, you should. Otherwise start saving up
for it!! When you do the t-belt change the waterpump at the same time,
since your in the area anyway!! And make sure that you get the
rollers/tensioner checked over too!! If the belt does go it's a LOT more
expensive to rebuild your engine!!

Who was that guy married to anyway??? I bought one Audi and my wife liked
it sooo much she actually encouraged me to buy two more.....and I don't need
any encouragement!!

I'm off my soapbox!!
