So I get to work the other morning and I notice for the first time there is
a name plate on a cubicle close to mine. Turns out this cubicle belongs to
Johannes van Overbeek, the M3 driver my company sponsors from Team PTG.
My first thought was 'is this for real?'. My second thought was 'what in
the world does he need a computer and sophisticated interoffice phone for?'.
As it turns out the cube is indeed his. I found this out by later finding
him in it. I heard some conversation from that area regarding the TT coupe
at which time I invited myself in by saying "The fact of the matter is Audis
are simply a superior car. I know, I own three". He looked at me and smiled.
I went on to point out that it was okay he drove a BMW because we (as in
Audi) don't race in that category and that frees me up to cheer for him as
well as Audi.
Not wanting to be a total cad I told him my family and I would be at races
Oct. 15 and truly looked forward to watching race.
Kind of cool having a racecar drive sitting nearby. I'm interested in
asking 'real' questions like testing and race prep. You should some of the
mahogany row guy's questions about. Why they can't get the corner just right
entering the parking lot. Stuff like that.
