Same here. '87 90q, on its second circuit board (replaced because dash 
lights didn't work). Speedo was (and is) intermittent. Recently, autocheck 
has died, been replaced by left hand turn signal light permanently on. This 
started as an intermittent fault which cured itself during driving, but 
it's now permanent.

As my previous '88 80 had the same intermittent speedo, this seems to be a 
standard fault with these cars. Since the part is really expensive and you 
can forget about finding them in scrapyards here in Holland, I'm not sure 
what to do about it.
