HTML, Etc.

Friends, I return after two weeks of hand-to-keyboard/mouse/card combat with
a computer which decided to melt down, develop faults, etc. in a variety o
creative ways. In fact, I still can't boot the d**m thing without going
through the safety screen which asks me if I want to boot up in safe mode or
not. And that's with most of the contrary box's guts ripped out and laying
on the desk in front of me...in order for it to boot up at all. But I will
win, in the end. After all, I own an Audi, meaning I am perverse of mindset
and capable of tenacity in finding and solving problems.

But I digress even more than usual....

Re: the HTML attachments, I consider this list a much sharper than average
group of people, esp. in regard to Things Technical....and even we
occasionally make errors in posting with inconvenient message format. I
regard it as a favor to friends when I advise correspondents that they are
unwittingly using mail formats which cause weirdness or consume huge amounts
of digest space. I certainly hope that my list-friends will let me know
ASAP if I turn on such an inconvenient function.

That's a long-winded way of opining that if someone is sending emails in
HTML format, it's a favor to them to politely let them know about it, so
they can make changes. Many email programs still don't like such formats,
and we've seen the results of sending such posts to a listserv.

There is still a place in the world for ASCII text.

Best...

(Yes, my email signatures got lost in the computer battle, too, and possibly
my whole address book as well. Don't ask.)
