should I get ESP?

My 00 TTQ received an offer to add ESP for $550 from AoA.  I live is St. 
Louis and this is my daily driver.  My other car is an 89 911 which I've had 
for 5 years.  I consider myself a decent driver and have participated in 
several driving events.

Under what real world conditions would ESP help?  I might not keep this car 
forever; will not having ESP make it seem inferior to "modern" cars?
