Jim-here are my answers in order of your asking 'em:
1. If you have a '92 you do not get to use the OBD-II
system. You need to find out exactly what ECU you
have. It hides in the rt. side of the footwell on
your passenger side (us models)...one or two screws
holds it in.
If you give me your p/n I will look it up in my
Bentley.
2. It was $671.90 two day air shipped CA to GA.
Someone said www.ctconverter.com was cheaper, but they
have not responded to e-mail sent last week. At this
point, if I'm within 10% of bottom, I don't care, it
passed and they were necessary.
Bear in mind the ones I just bought are NOT OE or
european made...they look like someone made them in
their basement. Took some sort of standard converter
and made the piping to fit. But they work, I passed
and I'm not so anal about the matter as some might be.
Just ask for Fred, he took fine care of me. Ordered
last Tuesday AM, received last Thursday lunchtime in
Atlanta via Airborne express. I'm calling him later to
say thanks.
3. Yes, they were self installed. A little bit of
help from E. Potter and all was good. Just make sure
you buy new steel donuts, hardware (copper nuts are
nice) and soak all flanges with "blaster" for 3 days &
leave the car parked before you try this.
4. If you have not done so, change O2 sensors too.
This will assure your cats live longer.
