center driveshaft support bearing on type 44's

what kind of noise does a bad one make?  would it be heard at all speeds or
just slow speed?  it is more pronounced when shifting or going over bumps?
would it make more noise during colder weather?  how long do they typically
last?  does the bmw replacement (p/n 26 12 1 209 532) work on type 44's.  is
it more cost effective to replace the entire driveshaft w/ a rebuilt unit
and who's got the best deal?  thanx.  potential patient is an 89 2ctqa w/
200k miles. thanx.
