I did the same thing myself for a while. The diagnostic window would let me
know if/when it would happen, which was not very often, thankfully. But then
one day the top tank cracked, which I think yours might do as well,
eventually. That plastic doesn't like to get too hot with too much pressure,
which I think begins to go on when it gets hot with water loss.
I wound up getting a new top tank. I did the R&R, they cleaned out the
radiator, put on a new top tank, then pressure tested it. The cost was only
$72 US. I had put it off, probably through fear of a large expense. It
wasn't that bad, and I wish I had done it right off. Shop around, certainly,
as prices may vary.
