New to me V8 5spd questions

Hello all,
    Just got back from the 2200 mile trip to pick up my 91 v8 5spd, and
had a couple of questions.
1.  What can one do for a better exhaust without having to buy a
scorpion from TAP?
2.  If anyone out there has gutted the cats on this car, did they make
an obnoxious noise afterwards?
3.  The cruise control doesn't work... anyone have any btdt's on a v8?

Other than an emergency wheel bearing replacement in Dayton Ohio, the
car was excellent to travel long distances in.  Incidentally, if anyone
needs to know how to do a rear wheel bearing on a v8, let me know.  It
was actually a piece of cake after I figured out how it all came apart.
Took me about 30 minutes to press the bearing and get everything
reassembled.  After driving the v8 5 speed at low altitude, I absolutely
know it would blow the doors off of my turbo cars.  You have to adopt a
whole different driving technique with that much torque available that
quickly.  It almost didn't feel right to have a non turbo Audi with that
much grunt.  Anyway, thanks in advance for the information.
