Hmm. Does anybody know why this is the case?
I found the full part number. The new one is 0.580.254.023. The old one is 0.580.254.016. I would hope the flow capacity of the 023 pump is equal to or greater than the 016...
I think my pump may have been somewhat marginal before it gave up the ghost, and that is why I had problems running under upped boost.

I got the old unit out and started to swap the connectors over when I noticed that the lugs on the new pump were too large for the wire connectors. I compared the part numbers (they both start with 0) and my pump ends in 016, and the new one ends in 023 (I'm pretty sure anyway).

Mine was like that. You'll have to find some crimp on lugs that will
fit the terminals and one nut. One of the original nuts fitted one of the
terminals on the new pump on my car.
