<< thanks jorgen, the said screw is located under a brass coloured metal cap,
30 seconds with a screwdriver and the cap was history. the screw was then
visible 1.5 to 1.75 turns in and i refitted it, a test drive showed
remarkable improvement, the only stumbling is very minor in 5th gear pulling
from 1250rpm, at high revs it is a bit flatter, but i put that down to
reconnecting the vacuum hose, tomorrow im going for .25 turns in and see if
it gets better.
thanks all

Alan, there is a procedure to do this correctly. Right now you are just
guessing, your seat of the pants evaluation is not very useful in this
situation. Your CO needs to be set to a factory specification. You will
need a multi-meter and a special test harness. The Bently or other Bosch FI
books describe the procedure very well. If you ever want your car to run as
the factory intended, it is important you follow the factory procedure to
setting your CO in spec. HTH,
Javad
