check engine light MIA - 89 100Q

Hi all,
While investigating a non-functioning check engine light
(bridging FP relay per Bentley) in my '89 100Q (built 4/88) I
discovered that it is, in fact, missing. Pulling the dash revealed
that there was no wiring to the light at the far right hand side of the
dash cluster.
Current findings:
1) Could not find evidence of cut or abandoned wiring anywhere.
2) Could not find correct wire in wiring diagram (Bentley) to trace
CE light from Ign control unit to emply dash location.
3) Multifunction dash display does have a check engine light
symbol when run through its "check" mode - does that count?

Can someone tell me what wire to trace from control units (Ign or
FI) so that I may find out where my CE light may have gone. Or
perhaps where to hook up an LED for pulling the codes. Not sure
what to do since Bentley assumes CE light exists for early 100Q.

Plz help.
