Coolant leak in 12v

I have to say I don't think either of your mechanics was very competent -
coolant leaks are the easiest thing to find.

a) Park the car (cold) on a dry surface.  I find it helps to have the
   front lifted - you may want to dive under at some point.

b) Remove the spark plugs.

c) Remove the coolant filler cap.

d) Attach a coolant system pressurising pump (like a bicycle tyre pump
   with an attachment that fits over the expansion tank neck) and
   pressurise the system to about 1.2 bar.

e) Unpack your folding chair and place it where you have a good view
   under the car.

f) Start a six-pack.

g) If you don't see anything under the car after ten minutes, check
   in the bores.

h) If this process doesn't produce a clue, replace the coolant filler
   cap with a new one and see if the loss stops.
