Steve,
Paul supplied me with what may be a more recent, or simplified version of
the Knob mod. It is simply a resistor, nothing more. He may have done away
with the zener due to the lack of any overboost protection. The 470 ohm
resistor gives plenty of boost headroom, almost too much, so there really is
no need I can see for the diode.
>... Paul's mod to the ECU was a resistor/zener mod, not simply a resistor.
The zener clamps the input to the A/D so that the ECU never thinks it sees a
pressure above that point and thus does not activate the overboost shutdown
mechanism.<Steve Buchholz

Quattrophile,
With the input of several listers, I am in the process of compiling a
compendium of boost mods, including these. I will post the link when I
finish. I will have some pictures of the "Shrapnnel-Knobben" mod as well,
with diagrams.
If you wish to contribute information on chipping, boosting, sources and
suppliers, please do.
Regards,
Ben
