Get a 20V turbo. Okay, okay... You can do almost anything to that
engine that you can do to the A2 or MK2 VW's. I had a freind in FL that put
a turbo onto his 84 rabbit GTI. The turbo came out of a Mitsu and was
running at 13PSI and 750 CFM!!!! The engine had been down graded from the
high compression pistons to be able to handle the killer pressure. I know
this isn't helping any but what I'm trying to say is anything is possible.

If your engine is horizontally mounted like your VW (Opposite of
Longitudinally mounted like the Q's) then there is a possibility that the A2
VW tranny's should hook up with minor customizing. When I blew 5 holes in
my GTX tranny (89 Jetta GTX 1.8L 16V) I couldn't afford the $1500 Canadian
for another one. $400 for a turbo deisel tranny and $200 for the smaller
clutch spline and performance clutch and I had myself a shorter ratio tranny
good for some total kick ass 0-60 times but crappy top speed. (Still can't
break 190KM/h)
Hope I help. If not, somebody else will. This is a place of
knowledge, and I find the infinite wisdom of "THE LIST" far excedes even
possibly that of original AUDI engineers. And they're more likely to
encourage Mods to.
