Your mechanic/body shop is an idiot.  They obviously F'd something up big
time and have no idea what they are doing.  My experience with body shops is
that some are good at paint work (what they are supposed to be good at!!)
but very few are good at general mechanic work.  Tell them you want to bring
it to a competent shop and make them pay for it.
