The first Benz V12 in modern time came out in the W140 series S-class, back in
1992 or so. You'd have ot go back to the 30's to find the last Mercedes V12.

The 6,9 is a V8, it was also available as a 6,3 in the w108 series (65-71
S-class)

The first V8 diesels ever to come from Germany is available this year! Audi, BMW
and MB all offer V8 diesels in their luxury class cars (A8 3,3 TDI, BMW 740 TDS,
MB S 430 CDI)
