The way to paint a car that I will describe here will only work with solid
colors!

First of all get a high quality paint! The cheaper the paint the harder it
is to get a good result, original paint are a really bad choice for a
beginner. I have very good experiences with Sikkens. Sikkens is my favorite
since it is a very strong paint. If you have a simple to use paint now we
can go on.

We don't have a paint box, this means that all dust that we produce when we
paint the car will drop down on the paint again. This means that we cannot
produce any dust. Drop down to sears and get a el cheapo touch up gun I use
#915002, a very small compressor is enough for this work. Perferrably get an
oil free compressor, also get a water/oil separator and filter. You will not
have to spend more then $200 for all that equipment, I haven't seen any good
compressor prices at Sears, the compessor should cost you around $100 at the
right place, same compressor will cost you $300 at the wrong place... When
you look at compressors you will see that the same compressor is often sold
with ten different names.

An proffesional spray gun does not do us any good, we need to spray small
parts of the car at a time, this is why we must use solid paint. Another
reasont to use solid paint is that if we fuck up, we can water sand it with
1200grit paper and then rub it too a great finnish.

Get a fender or two at the junk yard to train on, one with lots of curves on
it is good for training. You will have to put a few hour in front of these
to learn how to adjust the spray gun and to mix the paint to a viscosity you
like to work with.

If one of your cars are white, start with thatone. If possible use Sikkens
BASE white, it is the simplest color to spray. Try not to use black, it has
the highest demands on the prep work.

When you sweep the spray gun from side to side, release the trigger at the
end of the sweep, push it again when you are already sweeping in the other
direction.

To minimize work start with the roof, then paint the hud and trunk. After
that paint the sides of the car.
