[V6-12v] Timing belt tensioner failures... 1.8T, possibly 2.8
12valve as well?

Just checked through the "family album". There are NO timing components
in common between the V6 and the I4. As for the "Audi recommended"
timing belt change, well, everyone knows that 60K miles is when the
timing belt should actually be replaced. Not necessarily because the
timing belt is on it's last legs, but because 60K is a long time to go
with out replacing the water pump.
