Hey guys - just thought I'd drop a note on how the school went, being my
first time driving a rwd car (race prepared 924S Porsche) at speed. It was
awesome! Car was a bit unusual to get used to, but I think I was able to
adapt fairly well. I was running in Yellow, or "Experienced" run group, with
a bunch of really fast cars - most with over 250hp. Jon Linkov was there,
with his dad - funny, two Audi guys out of their element (he was driving a
1996 LT4 Corvette! He found that Corvette was Indian for "big horsepower,
big brakes, big tires, cushy suspension and seats" ) We had a lot of fun,
especially making fun of the BMW members (similar to the Audi crew here) that
show up for the Novice run groups with a BTCC prepared car. I managed to not
get passed the entire day, although there was a trick M6 that was about as
fast, maybe a touch faster than me (although he's also been driving the car
for several years - comfort level is a HUGE boost in speed), and an RX7 Twin
Turbo that caught me, but didn't pass
- not sure why. I tried not to push too hard, although I did get quite loose
at the apex of the downhill at about 95 or so mph (Why is the front of the
car facing the paddock? Uh oh). Pit in, change underwear, back out. Very
intimidating, but also very rewarding - the car was a blast to drive and very
fast. Jon's dad clocked me by handwatch at about 1:10 or so early in the day
- I might have gone faster later, but I'm not sure - Dad turns 1:04's in the
car, so the potential is there. In any event, a great run, really fun to
meet Jon and talk with some other Audi guys, and can't wait until next year
(hopefully, Jon and I will be able to bring OUR cars....)BTW, Jon, drop me a
line when you get a minute.

Thanks to all, any questions drop me a line.

Later!
Carter J
