I've also used the Loctite stuff twice on my dad's wagon. The first time it
came off in a a few months, but the second time lasted 2 years now, so I
think it's important to prep and have a clean surface. I didn't want to
change the position of the mirror, so I just used a flat razor blade to
remove the old junk, just like they do at emissions. It's very easy to
remove b/c the glue is very brittle, at least in my case...good luck
