There is no substitute.

That's a period following the word "Substitute."

Hmmmmm, dunno what made me think of that. Odd, really... but I digress

"bmxman 69" caused my two remaining functional nerual synapses to start
arching, snapping and fizzling like a bown of rice krispies, when he
commented:

> However, this is an Audi ng, and all this talk of big cube v-8's is making
> me wonder how much redneck I actually have in me. Maybe when i get older

You probably don't want to hear about the supercharged 568 cubic inch,
rear-engined V8 in my 4-wheel drive, "other" (other) vehicle (hey, a
"dualie" has 4 driven wheels), so I'll limit these remarks to ones with
actual "List Content"®.

(Our brother, Brett, beams with approval...)

The new issue of AutoWeek (hot out of my snailbox a mere 2 hours ago),
tells us that the new W12 will be unveiled at the Paris auto show, *this*
month, under the hood of a new A8. "The compact, all-alloy, direct
injection gasoline 6.0-liter delivers about 450 hp, plenty of reserve over
the 360 hp ["DUH!" ed.] found in the performance S8 (itself due on US
shores early next year as a late 2001 model)."

Sounds like two VR-6s, conjoined at the crank, to yer kindly ol' Unk...

And, please feel free to correct me, but I don't believe that this is an
Audi "news group." Calling Quattro an "ng," is akin to calling the
internet, "AOL." Both the internet in general, and Quattro in particular,
require at least two functional neural sysapses (see above), in order to
participate.

Speaking of "both:"

Question: What is the difference between Rush Limbaugh, and the Hindenburg?

Answer: Well, sure, "both" the Hindenburg and the exquisitely lovely and
svelt Mr. Limbaugh *are* a couple of well known, flaming nazi-gasbags; but
of the two, *only* the Lovely Mr. Limbaugh has his own radio show.

(Hey, no one said that *every* packet in a message had to be list-pure...)
