Finally found (made) a few minutes to work on the preventive
maintenance for the 1989 200q Avant. Over the last week or so, I
installed the following:
New Timing Belt
New Water Pump
New Idler Pulley
Rebuilt Modified Alternator (Thanks Avi)
New Belts - Alternator, Power Steering and AC
New O2 Sensor
New Injectors
New Shogun Auxiliary Coolant Pump (Relayed)
New Modine All-Metal Radiator
Rebuilt Cooling Fan (Thanks Avi) with 70W Fusible Link
New Thermostat
New Coolant Hoses
New Temperature Sensors
New Engine Mounts
New Transmission Mounts
Realigned Shift Linkage (necessary with these new mounts)
New Front Tie Rod Outer Ends
New Slotted Brake Rotors (ATE) and Pads
New Ignition Switch
Added Relays for Lights
Modified Light Relay to Fool Autocheck
New Hella XL Auxiliary Low Beams - I cannot afford Euros :-(
New Hella 550 Driving Lights
The two new sets of Hella lights actually make the Avant look a
bit more aggressive, even though they look a bit added-on with
the XL's above the bumper and the 550's below. It was $500
cheaper than Euro lights and they do help compared to the DOT
Audi lights. Still not as impressive as Euros.
I also cleaned the wheels somewhat. BTW, the best wheel cleaner
I have found is the "Driveway Cleaner" by Power Clean they sell
at my Autozone. It has not hurt the wheel clearcoat yet.
