rebuilt engines builders--Canada?

I called up my Audi dealer and they said they could get me a short block 
for $500 to use in my '84 5kT [KH engine]. Sounds pretty reasonable. 
They're getting them from Canada, but don't know if it's a contracted 
business or a part of Audi. Does anyone know where these are coming from? 
Also I wonder does the block include over-boring w/ new pistons or are they 
just honed cylinders w/ old pistons? I doubt I could build a short block w/ 
new oversize pistons for $500. What's the deal...I don't want this engine 
to burn any oil and need new rings in 2 years when there's no more 
warranty. Any comment welcome. Thanks.
