Fw: Here's a statistic for you... (CGT window regulator)

In eleven years of Audi ownership (6 cars), I have just
removed my first door panel and power window regulator.
Patient is 1987 Coupe GT with 128k, pass side regulator.
I think this is the typical failure mode. Plastic spring seat
broken and remains of it pushed up along outside of cable
sheath. This was the one on the side that bears the burden
of putting window up.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have no
recollection of the ins and outs of this repair. I believe
I do remember that there's no chance in hell that I can just
go get that little plastic piece somewhere.
It sure looks like I could just do some disassembly and put
another one in. I even thought I could just switch the two
and put the mangled mess on the side that bears the burden
of putting the window down.
Any ideas or helpful hints or links to point me to?
Thanks
