Hello, my recent experience with thieves (car got broken into) raised
the question of protecting my property using various methods, each with
a different personal safety/ effectiveness ratio. I was considering some
slightly extreme measures involving various sport paraphenalia, but I
would never go as far as the guy in the following scenario which took
place in Poland last sunday night.

A German tourist pulled into a gas station to put some air into his
s'sedecrem tires. It looked like he punctured one of the tires and he
had to change it. A stranger offered him help. However, when the owner
was not paying attention, the stranger jumped behind the wheel and tried
to take off. The surprised owner jumped onto the hood of the car to try
to stop the thief. The thief, however, kept on driving while the owner
kept holding on. The duo made it like that for 3 km until other drivers
on the road intervened and persuaded the thief to stop the car. The
thief ran off. I guess that the owner was "fine."
