Further codes (Like the motor) in the Vin #

Since you have an extensive knowledge about codes for the body part of the
Vin # I thought I'd give you a
yell about the motor code "D" on my newly aquired 1990 Audi 200 TQ Avant.

The engine code MC, I beleive is from the earlier version 5 cyl with the two
knock sensors.
The engine code in the Vin number below is not mentioned in the Bentley
Book.

WAUH"D"5 44 2LN 019655

The glove box book for that 1990 year states the horsepower is 162.

What does the "D" stand for and what is the horsepower rating?
