I have H&R 200 20v springs on my 88 5000. The dimensions are the same,
but the springs are about 12mm lower and 20lbs stiffer than H&R 5000
springs. This makes for good times. But, the car still has some body
roll. And I still think it is ok.

In the same article, they also say that this new (currently with the H-6

that approaches the transparancy of the quattro system. Basically all the
others are ON the OLD system. So I think my perception stands.

I believe that's the new system which will only be available on the new

At least according to AutoWeek.

I just have to say, that after driving my 'new' 87 Subaru turbowagon now
for
3 months, I really have come to appreciate the quality of my 1300 dollar

Ya, the electricals are somewhat foul and the engine idles like a pack of

nervous rats, but that sweet 5 cyl. sound and the good torque band really

redeems itself in a hurry. My dream car? 5ktqw, jacked up about 3 inches
for ground clearance. I can only imagine a turbo coupled to the 5

Good low-end torque with high-end passing power. Oh, and no cooling
problems
like my Subaru, either...:)

Igor,

I looked at this car several weeks ago. It also has the RS2 hood Momo
pedels and shifter, and I believe a K&N filter. The car seemed solid when I
drove it, however, I had the feeling that there was something that I was
missing. There was also a Denon CD changer in the trunk, but the head unit
was not functioning (It was a VW unit). At the time Brett wanted around
$13K. If he still has the car he might be willing to come down. He told me
that he still had the original exhaust and hood, grill, etc. and a bentley
manual. I believe it also had cross drilled rotors. Brett stated that they
came "standard" on the car. He didn't seem to know much about Audis or this
car, yet he has done or had done many mods. The braking on the cross
drilled rotors was excellent.

Good Luck.

The primary toxicity in Imron is from the isocyanate in the hardener.
Isocyanate is present in many two-part single-step auto paints. Forced air
breathing apparatus is recommended, although you can get away with a very
good cartridge respirator for small jobs in a very well ventilated area.
Spray is the most hazardous form of application since it creates an airborne
mist. Brush application creates a bit of fume but is nowhere near the
problem of spray application.
A quicky 10 second shot with an air-brush in a very windy carport using
isocyanate-based paint without a mask (hey, it's just a little touch-up on a
very small spot - no problem) can leave you sick for three days. Don't ask
me how I know this....

I took my pristine 16" S4 OEM wheels into a local tire shop to have the new
Dunlop SP9000's mounted. This place isn't your local Sears tire outlet, it's
one of the local heavy equipment tire outlets - transports, skidders,
Euclids, that kind of delicate stuff.
The guy that put the tires on handled those wheels like they were eggs. He
cleaned up his tire machine, got out a teflon rider for the arm, very gently
set the rims on the machine, set up the machine with each rim so that the
arm did not touch the rim at all, and used the machine that clamped the edge
of the rim, not the inside of the wheel.
"Nice wheels", he said. "I really like this kind of stuff". Then he went
back to the job I interrupted - changing 18 tires on a transport.
I couldn't have been more pleased. Not all are "monkey lads".

Hi Eric;

The problem with the relay set-up and the fog lights is the way Audi
grounded the fog light relay coil. It is grounded through the filament on
the high beam bulb, so when you turn on the high beams, the relay coil loses
it's ground, and the fog lights shut off. A very clever application, but it
screws up the high beam relay application since enough current can feed back
through the fog light relay coil to hold the high beam relays closed when
you flip the dimmer to "Low". Pulling the fog relay breaks this circuit and
allows the high beam relays to work properly. A fix is remove the existing
fog relay ground and run a separate ground for the fog light relay coil to
T87 on a high beam relay - this again grounds the fog relay through the high
beam bulb, restoring the design intent. Some cars have this problem, and
apparently some don't - my S4 did.
Where are your relays mounted? If they are in the engine compartment, they
may be getting too hot in 120F ambient temperatures. Buzzing may indicate
insufficient voltage to activate the relay - have you measured the coil
voltage with both relays installed and buzzing?

Replace the cables, Nick. They are cheap - it's the labour that is the hard
part. Every bad cable I've replaced has failed at the rubber mounting
blocks - the outer casing chafes through, allowing water to enter.

What year CGT do you have?

I'm guessing it's the 87.5, being that my 86 only has one fan speed.

I've only had a problem like that once, and it was when my battery died. I
turned the car off. Came out to start it and nothing happened. Jumped it,
and the radiator fan came on when i connected the jumper cables. It stuck
until I unplugged it.

After I replaced the dead battery it never happened again.

Subject: How about an UrQ in One Lap of America?
To: quattro at audifans.com

Reading all the writeups on this years' One Lap of America is giving me some
ideas...(no, really, I'm serious! ;) ..... I think it might be cool to
campaign my UrQ next year. With the list's vast knowledge and reach, I know
it could be done. More horsepower, bigger brakes, etc are in order of
course, but what do you guys think?

I wonder if this is the same car that was at MH99. There were two privately
owned SQ's in the corral, other than the fleet of Beddor's. A beautiful
green one with MSW Superturismo wheels (my favorite) and a white one that
looked pretty much stock if i recall, that was also for sale in the $80K
range.

Be on the look-out for a beat-up looking white 4kq
with Iowa plates! I'll be heading to Cincinnati for
the wonderful Oktoberfest. If any of you have a spare
bumper cover, left rear taillight assembly, and left
rear chrome trim let me know! I'll be taking I-74 all
the way! I don't have any Q-List decals, but I'll be
waiving at every Audi I see! Once I get to town, I'll
probably give in and ride around with my friend in her
2001 A42.8...the sacrifices I make:)

Thanks and hope to see some of you!

Check WolfSport. That's the last place I saw (and bought) a set (Jan 2000).

i'm using 215/50-15 dunlop sp4000's on 8" ronals (which have been painted
black)... tire performs great, speedo is correct...i'm very disappointed
with the tread life on the tires
