UK fuel crisis

Dave,

Yes I thought LRP could not be used in a CAT equiped car but thanks for
confirming it. Something people do not consider is that the Lambda probe
will be damaged by LRP causing the fuel mixture to be incorrect. This is
particularly relevent to owners of pre-93 Audis that have CATs fitted but
are not required to do so by law and so remove the CAT either to improve
performance or because it has failed.

I was interested to read that you do not recomment LRP for use in a 84 UR
as its additive has not been proven. But I thought all Audis since the mid
seventies have had hardened valve seats so is the use of additives not
irrelevant. The reason I use LRP is because I need higher octane than 95
unleaded and it is cheaper than 98 super unleaded. Is not 97 octane near
enough to 98? 98 is becomeing as cheap as LRP so I may start using that
soon or I may retart the ignition so as to use 95.
