16' performance tires on new A4

My $.02. I run Michelin XGT H4s on my 1996 A4q in the winter. Did driving on
the ice in CT that we got in January and was fine. Encountered snow in VT
one some weekends (including a long unplowed stretch during a "storm" from
Brattleboro south to Springfield MA) and was happy with them. PLUS, the
tires were affordable, at about $480 for all 4 mounted and balanced. There
is a Z-rated version that is stiffer (the tires DO have some roll/sidewall
softness compared to z-rated tires) but, of course, more expensive
($150/tire).

Unless you are in snow ALL the time (ME, VT, NH, etc), I think all seasons
are a better compromise than eating up snows on the mostly dry pavement the
north east seems to feature during most winters we now experience.
