Excellent point Cobram! We should always remember that caveat emptor
applies ... to the aftermarket parts vendors as well. I've seen B'nugen ask
outrageous prices for some parts too ... "whatever the market will bear."
DADS can be pretty hit and miss ... I do have to say I've been able to get
pretty good prices from them overall. It is probably better to talk to them
on the phone (800-321-DADS) than to use the website ... I usually talk to
Aaron and mention that I'm a quattro club member and I usually do pretty
well. I've also had instances where DADS was a lot cheaper than other
recyclers. Given the variability of supply it is often worthwhile to call
multiple sources just to be able to find out if a place has a particular
part available. As you have found, it is sometimes the case that a dealer
who gives good discounts or can supply OEM parts can get a brand new part
for less than what a recycler thinks the used part is worth.
