Volvo had the same thing happen with the 205/50-16 Michelin Pilot HX's
they were putting on 850turbos. Gave people free 205/55's or $500, I
think. I belive part of the reason you don't see these complaints from
corvette, porsche, or M-series owners is that they are more likely to
realise the compromises w/ low profile tires, where some 850 owners
might have no idea they are driving a high-perf car, and expect it to be
like other cars they have owned.

Probably the complaints would be much louder if those cars came with
Bridgestones.
No one is really learning what they should from this story: the
importance of properly inspecting tires and checking the tire
pressures. I see Explorers all the time that have obviously
underinflated tires, which is directly contributory to the problems
with those models.
