I really like the part:

    Audi spokeswoman Jennifer Garber denied Audi was using the wrong tire on
the 3,700 pound car, saying drivers demanded low-profile, high speed-rated
tires such as Potenzas but did not take into account that tires with narrow
sidewalls offer reduced protection from road hazards. 
    The magazine cited an independent tire expert who agreed with Audi. 
    

this is the same bs like the explanation for missing computer in 95 S models
- people buying the car were too stupid to understand the average gas
mileage computation in the car ....... it is hard to believe that AOA would
make such statement.

I guess Americans do not understand the concept - perhaps little Teutonic
education would be a good idea ....
