I would consider an F-body car. The costs would be lower to get into the
car, the engine is the same (with the right model, of course), and to be
honest, the newer F-body cars will outperform the older Corvettes,
particularly around the corners.

A 1993+ Camaro Z28, Firebird Formula, or Firebird Trans Am will offer all
the same driving fun (especially with a 6-speed manual!), new technology,
and reasonably close reliability. Resale will be much less, and the "cool
factor" is less, too. Besides, with EFI, you can look for much better fuel
consumption on the highway (I regularly got 32+ in 6th).

But, it's up to you... happy hunting!

Best regards,
Brad
