Brian,
I recently mounted a Boost Guage. Since I could not afford anything more
expensive, I got the Vac/Boost Guage and a pod from, cough, ahem, JCWhitney
for under $30 total.
I mounted the $4 pod between the speaker in the dash and the instrument
Console. I'm using Velcro tape to hold it on as I don't want to drill any
permanent holes and screw it in permanantly - yet.
The hole, for the hose and the light wires, was drilled (PITA) through right
at the top right corner of the speaker hole. I removed the IC first to
facilitate getting the hose from a tee at the ECU through to the hole.
Also, you want the IC removed to prevent accidently drilling through
something.
Except for the hole drilling the hole in the dash/speaker depression(was
like drilling through titanium) the installation is not to difficult. I
suggest starting with a small bit to make a pilot hole, and then use a
larger ~ 3/8" bit to finish the hole.
The installation looks good, except that I am using tacky/cheap/inexpensive
whatever JCW parts and the velcro glue tends to come undone in the sun - it
really doesn't look bad, and could pass for a professional job. Total
install time, under 3 hours.
I have considered getting some more elegant pods, which would mount
similarly, but my houshold financial officer is cracking me over the head
for recent and supposedly outrageous, unecessary & frivolous expenses for
new XGT tires, brakes, and the GTQ project, which is barely underway.
Hope this gives you some good ideas.

Okay, okay,
who has mounted a gauge in a type 44? I need to, and I need some BTDT's
please. I have a heat gun and a dremel so I can modify one.
I want to add my VDO boost gauge and probably a fuel pressure gauge.
My car is a 91 200
Thanks
