Richard,
Except for the pressure reading you describe, it sounds exactly like the
overboost fuel pump cutout that is triggered when the ECU detects 1.5 Bar.
Check/replace all your vacuem/boost lines, starting with the lower wastgate
hose.
Check the archives for this common problem "'87CSTQW Engine under load cuts
out momentarily."
