new alternator -> flickering lights

Having recently installed a rebuilt alternator in my 5000S, I'm
now noticing that there's a definite and constant "flicker" to all
of the dash lights, headlights, dome light, etc. etc.  No loose
connections that I could find.  Checked and rechecked grounds.

Is this brushes, voltage regulator, or ???  I imagine it's
going to mean pulling it back off the car in any case.  If so I'll
just have the store replace it.
