Polish / Wax Odor

When I initially start my car, I notice a strong odor like polish or car wax. 
 Some people describe it as a paint smell.  The smell is noticeable for about 
20 seconds, but I'm not sure if that is because it stops or I just get use to 
it.  I've noticed this for quite some time (at least a year), but it appears 
to be stronger.  My air conditioning system seems fine (could cool a little 
faster on hot city driving days), so I don't think it's a freon leak.  Any 
suggestions would be appreciated.
