4ksq cold start & trip computer problems

I replaced my cluster 2 nights ago with a trip compu cluster and harness 
(connected to empty red socket) , since then the car will not start in the 
morning without an ether blast,,,,It idles real rough at about 300 rpm for 
about 2 minutes until the engine warms , during this rough idle period if you 
hit the accelerator at all , the car dies immediately. once it acheives it's 
normal 800rpm mode the car works as normal...(no power loss, full revs)..but 
the trip computer does not work , mpg is @200.00, in the donor this worked 
fine...my question is this ,do I need to change the main computer as well to 
bring back normal function and trip functions? or is there elswhere I need to 
look......In the afternoon (70 degrees)the car  starts without ether If you 
jump start and crank it for what seems like forever........ mike...TIA
