Unknown Burning Smell

Guys-
Thanks for the responses... The list says the smell could be:
*rich mixture heating cat
*drive line seal dripping trans fluid
*pentosin leak
*sticking brakes

Well, when I got to work this morning, car had same smell.  But I was in no
shape to get under there.  When I got home today, the car didn't smell!  So
no clue, yet.

BUT QUESTION-
Don't know how to check my mixture-- but my O2 sensor is way over due... is
this a likely culprit?  Fuel economy hasn't seemed to change..

Brakes are a possibility..  I'll checking from heat from those two places
tomorrow.. Then on to looking for leaks.  THANKS,
