Odd. I was thinking about this job yesterday. Bought the July issue of
the UK magazine "Car Mechanics" where a 100CD owner used a axle stand,
looonng ratchet extension (looks 1/2") and a pipe (for leverage it
seems) to remove the retaining bolt. And this thread shows up now... :)
Well, exactly what tool are we talking about here and exactly what does
it look like? Measurements and specs would be welcome as I might just
pop round to the toolmaker to have it made if it's simple enough. :) If
anyone has one at hand, can they draw it up as a rough sketch for a
toolmaker to look at and quote on?
I now have a 1/2" drive torque wrench going all the way up to 540Nm,
it's something like 1.2 metres long. Paid $100. :) Should do the trick
on the axle nuts and the pulley bolt, provided 1/2" drive can take that
torque. My 25:1 2500 lb.ft. torque multiplier is for sale. It'd do the
trick if I had a truck. :( Pity it isn't smaller.
