Haynes manual oddity

My UK manual specifically excludes the Quattro variants (also the Diesel
versions) - it doesn't have 300 pages either despite purporting to cover all
the 100/200 variants between 1982 and 1989. It doesn't have the photo of the
diff-lock switch either. Sadly, the current range of Haynes manuals over
here don't contain anything like the level of detailed information that they
used to. For example, after purchasing a new manual recently for a F**d, I
was subsequently given an older edition of the manual for the vehicle by a
friend. This older edition has twice as many pages yet covers a smaller
range of model years than the later manual. Old Haynes manuals will tell you
in some detail how to strip down the gearbox but usually recommend a
specialist for the differential - the new manuals will tell you how to
remove the box but provide no strip-down information at all. Useless. Me,
I've given up and bought the Bentley.
