Have you ever come up behind someone real fast in REALLY thick fog that you
didn't see until they were right in front of you???  That's what the rear
foglight is for.

It's also only placed on the drivers side for a reason; in the event that
you're quickly "come upon" by another car he would be tempted to swerve
towards the ditch.  If both sides lit up he could mistake you rear fogs for
brake lights and brake too quickly and lose control.  Likewise, if it was on
the pass. side he would be tempted to swerve towards oncoming traffic(NOT
GOOD)!!

Remember these cars are designed for use in Germany where higher speeds are
obtained much more often.  This feature is less important here in the states
but still a nice safety feature to have!!
