'88 5kcstq in-tank issues

In my previous post, I forgot to mention that my mechanic 
apparently did a half-ass job putting in the fuel pump.  He was the 
last one in the tank the last two times, and supposedly tightened 
the fuel fittings, and then tried to unbend/bend the fuel gauge 
sender arm.

When I originally did the pump, I did it by feel.  It wasn't until later 
that I discovered that you can clearly see the pump if you just look 
in there with a flashlight.

When I got into the tank to try to readjust the sender arm, I noticed 
the pump wasn't oriented correctly in the holder.  It wasn't indexed 
properly.

Anyway, I fixed it.  Here's is a pic of what it looked like when I
