The 2.8 V6 (also known as the VR6) has been out for about one year here in Europe. You can read a test of the V6 4mo here:

The Passat doesnt even use this engine, as it uses the 90º V6 shared with Audi's A4/A6/A8. But the 3.2 V(R)6 is, so far, only
known to exist in the limited New Beetle RSi. Rumours were that the 3.2 would be shown in a Golf RSi at the Geneva Motor Show, but
it didnt.
