rusted on plates(type 44)

Fortunately, only two screws are holding the plate in; I guess I can 
kitty-corner with the next two.

Unfortunately, I have few, if any, of the tools required to get the 
old screws out/off.  The only way I think I'm going to get them out 
is to attack them from behind, but this is impossible?  I'd love to 
fire up a mototool and slice+dice the screws but I don't have one 
here in NY, and the new plates have to go on tomorrow...
